New Vegas

Okay, so I saw the teaser trailer for Fallout New Vegas last night, and I have one thing to say...

I would kill for this game.

Seriously.

Fallout 3 marked the start of a brand new addiction for me, with everything that happened in it. I bought every DLC as soon as they came out, as long as I had the money. I have spent hundreds o hours playing, and am determined to get that platinum trophy...

But now that I see New Vegas arriving in Autumn, I am just so excited for it that I am already becoming obsessed. Looks like another date to mark on the calendar.

My list of the top 10 underappreciated bands

So, here's a top 10 list of bands who don't get the recognition they deserve. At all. Sometimes they might make it onto a mainstream media, only to be forgotten again just as quickly as they appear. Some people know of them, but they are a lucky few, whereas the majority knows of utter crap, such as Lady Gaga, and other cardboard cut-out celebrities made for the sheeple of the world.

So, kicking it off at number 10...

10. Thousand Foot Krutch

Here's a band I've not listened to for a while, but just started again. I used their music a fair amount in my music videos, and it's easy to see why. They really do rock, and their music is definately worth a listen. It isn't to everyone's tastes, but then again, what is? Hard rock/rapcore, depending on which songs you listen to, and soft-ish lyrics combined with heavy guitar works well for this band.

9. Spineshank

This band perform Industrial metal at its best, with hugely satisfying instrumentals, and one of the most enjoyable screams I have heard in music. Not too long ago, the band broke up, because of musical differences. Their vocalist, Jonny Santos, formed a band called Silent Civilian, but now has returned to Spineshank yet again! This news has made me very happy.

8. Turisas

Viking metal with a truly epic sound, yet not very well known... Which is a shame because Turisas are a great band, with an undeniable energy to their music. They have an amazing vocalist in the form of Mathias Nygard, who performs amazingly well in harmony with the instrumentals. A truly brilliant band, if vikings were still alive, they would probably listen to this.

7. August Burns Red

I heard about these guys from a friend of mine who saw them at the Dubai Desert Rock Festival, and I am so glad he told me about them... Normally, I don't listen to metalcore, but August Burns Red has proven to be an exception. Back Burner was the first song I heard by them, and i've been hooked ever since. Their vocalist, Jake Luhrs, is a truly amazing screamer, with a very powerful voice, and the music itself is proof the band are talented musicians, with some interesting guitar riffs, rather than the crunching guitar sounds we normally hear in this genre. They really stand out in a genre that mostly sounds the same. Congratulations to them, but, unfortunately, the metalcore genre isn't really mainstream, so maybe they are always going to be underappreciated.

6. Great Big Sea

Very happy music from these guys, Great Big Sea never fail to make me feel a bit better about things. They're fun, and just give out this vibe of "hey, everything's fine, relax". I've been listening to them a lot lately.

5. Flogging Molly

Irish Folk Rock... Sound a bit weird? That's because it is. But is it also good? Oh hell yes. It's a very interesting blend of Irish folk music, and rock music, but it certainly rocks. Some of their earlier music was drinking songs, and some also comprised of politically based lyrics. Check these guys out.

4. HURT

If you've known me for any period of time, you'll know I love this band. They have a very varied sound, ranging from soft songs like Assurance and Danse Russe, to somewhat emo-ish with Rapture, Overdose and Talking To God, and pure hard rock fury in Got Jealous. The singer, J Loren Wince, has a beautiful voice, and seems incapable of writing a bad song.

3. Clutch

Well, what can I say about these guys... They are unique. No band comes close to their sound. Although their sound is different with almost every song. Ranging from blues influences with Electric Worry, the heavy metal sound of Burning Beard, the punk energy of Mice And Gods, and the pure craziness and random lyrics of 10001110101 and Raised By Horses, this band have established themselves as a top quality band, yet they never seem to get the recognition they so desperately deserve.

2. Poets Of The Fall

I love these guys, every song they put out impresses me completely. From hard rock to soft ballads, they manage to suit the song perfectly. The versatility of this band never ceases to amaze. From the slow, piano-led song Sleep, to the hard rock tune Psychosis, this Poets Of The Fall are well worth a listen.

1. Rob Dougan

So here is Number One in my list. Rob Dougan, with a fusion of classical music, drum n bass, and blues vocals and lyrics. A very experimental mix, but a very good one nonetheless. His music is everywhere, in adverts, on TV shows, even sometimes cropping up in the news, and all over the internet, but not many people notice. His tracks are mostly used as backing music, including some tracks in The Matrix trilogy.

Hmm...

So, I finally decided to jump on this bandwagon.
